You must all know that I love entering giveaways and competitions to see if I’m lucky enough to win something. 99% of the time, I don’t but I still try anyway! Whilst on Twitter, I noticed that Maxfactor were looking for people to see if they wanted to try out their new Maxfactor Facefinity All day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation (long name!). All you had to do was fill in a form on Facebook with your details and wait to see if you were lucky enough to be picked, and I was one of the lucky 100 to get picked! Hooray! I was a bit surprised, considering I don’t win many things! So yes, I got this for free. ^_^
The new Maxfactor Facefinity All day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation consists or a primer, concealer and foundation and is supposed to keep your face matte all day. It contains “Micro Correctors” (I’m not sure what these are!) which are supposed to help protect from sweat and excess sebum. This also contains SPF20 which, if you are a frequent reader, will know that I always look for SPF in make-up products.
The foundation itself, is quite liquidy in texture, which makes it really easy to apply and blend into the skin.
The shade I chose was Golden 75, thinking it would suit my skin tone. It was difficult to tell exactly what shade I was from the picture swatches that were supplied.
I know what you’re thinking, “uh-oh, that colour looks a bit wrong on her….” And you would be correct haha, trust me to always pick the wrong shade, which is why if any of you are going to purchase this, make sure you head to a Maxfactor counter so you can swatch them to find the perfect match. It’s difficult to tell what the correct colour is from looking at swatches online I actually thought it looked ok when I applied it on my face, then I went out to the supermarket and noticed my face was a bit darker and orangey in colour. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I applied it to my neck as well, but I didn’t! ~(>_<~) My sister couldn’t stop laughing at me haha, she’s so nice…..The colour photographed like it matched my skin tone, trust me it didn’t!
So, let me show you the coverage on my face, since I guess that’s the important part if you are looking at this review!
I will warn you all again, that you will see my rubbish, acne scarred skin in the following picturesヽ(●ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ●)ﾉﾟ
I am really happy with the coverage of this, it was really easy to apply and it covered most of the redness on my skin and evened out the skin as well, so that the pitted scars weren’t as noticeable. The good thing about this is that you can layer on more to build up the coverage, however, I will choose to use concealer just to touch up the red patches that weren’t quite covered instead of applying another layer (I didn’t use concealer in those pictures tho). The reason being, is that I sometimes get dry patches on my face and this foundation seems to attach itself to those dry patches. You can see this in the picture just above, where I had a dry patch of skin around my nose and on the corner of my lip. For this reason, I would say people with dry skin and those with dry skin patches to maybe avoid using this, because it does highlight those areas more.
So for the concealer part and foundation part, this is pretty good, it leaves the skin soft although I can feel I have foundation on if I touch my face.
What about the primer part? I deliberately didn’t apply my trusty Laneige Primer because I wanted to test out the claim that it keeps your face matte all day. And you know what? It’s actually really good! I was shine free for maybe 6-7 hours and that is really good for me, because I normally have to blot once or twice within that time range. My forehead was a little shiny the longer I wore it, but that was expected since my forehead produces so much oil! So, definately good if you have oily skin!
I’m glad I got to try this foundation out, I just need to get myself down to a counter to find the correct colour for me…Not sure what I’m going to do with the Golden colour one tho….
Will you be purchasing this foundation?
